Green FAIL! Skin cleanser

My son has nice skin
Remember when I talked about there might be some failures along the way? Here is another one I need to fess up about. At the beginning of October, I began to notice that my lips were really chapped and I was waking up with swollen lips and my skin on my face was red and dry. I thought the culprit was my lip balm so I switched back to petroleum based Aquaphor but my face was bright red. Turns out, I have minor rosacea according to my fellow Derm PA friend and the Yes to Carrots facial wash (for sensitive skin) was too much for my face so I went back to using Dove soap again.

After the holidays, I plan on trying the oil cleansing method as it should not be harsh on my poor skin but I am bummed because I have never had skin problems in my life and it's frustrating that I found this out by using a natural cleanser.

Do you have a method you think I should try? I would to hear about it.

  2. Yes To Carrots Gentle Exfoliating Facial Cleanser

Water (Aqua), Dead Sea Water (Maris Aqua), Daucus Carota (Carrot) Juice, Isopropyl Myristate, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Oil , Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Gel, Propylene Glycol, Peg-40 Stearate, Zinc Oxide, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Seed Powder, Dimethicone, Beeswax (Cera Alba), Chamomila Recutita, Cucurbita Pepo (Pumpkin) Juice, Ipomoera Batatas (Sweet Potato) Extract, Cucumis Melo (Melon) Extract, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Fruit Extract, Honey (Mel) Extract, Silt (Maris Limus), Sorbitan Tristearate, Algae Extracts (Rhodella, Dunaliella, Spirulina), Fragrance (Parfum), Daucus Carota Seed Oil, Imidazolidinyl Urea, Vitamin E (Tocopheryl Acetate), Allantoin, Lactic Acid, Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Peel Extract.

Okay, first of all, what are they doing using PEG in a "green" product! PEG is an ethoxylated compound that can contain traces of carcinogenic 1,4-dioxane.

Propylene glycol is a known skin irritant (among other things) http://www.cosmeticsdatabase.com/ingredient/705315/PROPYLENE_GLYCOL/

"Fragrance" is used among the natural extracts...which can be any combination of over 3000 different chemicals from phthalates to neurotoxins http://www.cosmeticsdatabase.com/ingredient/702512/FRAGRANCE/

Imidazolidinyl Urea works as a preservative by breaking down and releasing small amounts of formaldehyde: http://www.cosmeticsdatabase.com/ingredient/703119/IMIDAZOLIDINYL_UREA/

There's nothing green about Yes to Carrots, just their marketing claims!
