Things I hate buying: toothbrushes

What do you hate buying? Well, my top five include toilet paper, tampons, toothbrushes, razors and diapers.

A while back, I talked about Preserve Toothbrushes and how I thought they were pretty cool. Then I discovered they have a toothbrush subscription for $13 a year. Hello, sign me up!

What does the toothbrush subscription entail? You can pick how often you get the brush and the firmness of the brush. The kicker, not only are the toothbrushes:
  • Powered by recycled yogurt cups™
  • Handle 100% recycled #5 plastic; bristles new nylon
  • Easy-to-grip curved handle
  • Tiered bristles for gentle, thorough cleaning
  • Completely recyclable after use
  • BPA free
  • Made in the USA
(info courtesy of Preserve)
the other cool thing ... Preserve will send you a mailer so they can recycle the toothbrush!

The husband was pretty skeptical about it but after a week of using his new toothbrush, he proclaimed he  loved it! Now if someone would come up with a razor subscription that would be amazing!

  6. On the contrary, I like buying toothbrushes, especially when there's so much to choose from. Dentists suggest to buy a new toothbrush every 3 months anyway.

    1. The head of the toothbrush will be changed but not the handle. This solution is both practical and environmental friendly.

  16. You need to choose one with soft bristles and be sure to change the bristles on the electric brush when they become worn down, if you are using electric toothbrush. Bristles are very important.

  17. I agree. Bristles are indeed very important. One of the signs that the toothbrush needs to be replaces is the color on the bristles. Once the color fades, then it's time to change it. You can also change the toothbrush every 3 months.
