Product Review: Earth Friendly Products Wave Automatic Dishwashing Gel

I hate loading and unloading the dishwasher just as much as cleaning toilets yet it's something I do about five times a week. I'm really picky about the how the dishwasher is loaded (my husband can thank my mother for this ... she sent me to "MaryLu's School of How to Load the Dishwasher School) so passing this task off is nearly impossible. My mom taught me how to maximize the space to get the most dishes in there ... oh, where was I?

When I first started this journey, I searched for DIY dishwasher detergent recipes and this task quickly became one of those "Ain't Nobody Got Time for That" tasks.  Off to the grocery store I went for something that was biodegradable and non-polluting so it doesn't contaminate the water.

Not a lot of eco-friendly options at Fred Meyer

Several brands later and not a lot of choices at my local grocery store, I was ready to switch back to dishwashing tabs as nothing was really doing the trick at getting my dishes sparkly clean.

  • contains NO bleach or bleaching agent
  • Low sudsing
  • cuts through grease and dried on food
  • removes tough stains
  • Does not etch metal, silver.
  • can be used together with rinse additives for automatic dish washing machines.
  • Septic tank and gray-water system safe: biocompatible with a wide variety of wastewater and gray water treatment systems; doesn’t eliminate bacteria that make septic systems work efficiently
  • Easy to recycle: #2 HDPE plastic containers

Another thing I learned, use gel/liquid products because the tabs and powders could contain salt which contaminate water. YIKES!

This product was awesome at first and then I didn't realize my little 16 month old button pusher changed the settings on my dishwasher and nothing was coming out clean. I remember making some comment to my husband about the product stopped working. Then I noticed she had programmed it to "RINSE ONLY" and when I switched it back, everything worked smoothly!

After it was all gone, I found that my local Fred Meyer sold this product and purchased some more -- that's how much I loved it.

What eco-friendly dish washing product do you use?
